Most programs start with a template. Ours starts with you.

Every American Ascension program is built from a detailed assessment of how you move. We coach it in person, and we change it as you change.

01The difference

100%

of our programs start with an individual movement assessment

The assessment is the program.

Most training programs are written once and handed to everyone. The workouts stay the same whatever your body, your history or your goals. That leaves gaps: injuries nobody addresses, plateaus that never break, and plans that were never built for the person doing them.

We start with you. Before we write a single session, we look at how you move, what you do well, where you are limited, and which imbalances are holding you back. The program is built from what we find.

The usual approach

Template programming

  • The same block of work for every athlete
  • Imbalances never found, so never fixed
  • Plateaus answered with more volume
  • A fixed plan that does not change as you do

American Ascension

Assessment-first coaching

  • A detailed movement assessment before anything is written
  • Programming built around your patterns and limitations
  • Evidence-based methods, coached in person
  • Reassessed and adjusted as your body changes

03How it works

Four steps, and the first one is not training.

01

Assess

A detailed movement assessment, and a conversation about your history, your sport and your goal. This is where we find the imbalances and limitations a template never looks for.

02

Build

We write your program from what the assessment found. It is evidence-based and specific to the way your body moves, not adapted from someone else’s plan.

03

Coach

We coach the work in person. Technique gets corrected as it happens, and the standard does not slip because nobody was watching.

04

Reassess & adjust

Bodies change over a season. We reassess and adjust the program with you, so you never train on a plan written for the athlete you were twelve weeks ago.

04Who coaches you

Two coaches who have been through it themselves.

Alec and Dan came up through the same competitive world they now coach in. Both hit the ceiling of generic programming in their own careers, and both know what changed once their training was built around them.

06Teams & clubs

We coach whole teams, one athlete at a time.

Team training usually means one plan for thirty different bodies. We assess each athlete on the roster and build from there. The athlete coming back from injury and the athlete chasing a conference title each get the work they need.
